Managing Director (MD) Qliq - Systematic Quantitative Trading
Qliq is taking the next step. We are looking for a Managing director (MD) to lead our organization — operationally hands-on, strategically sharp, and focused on what matters: absolute return.
Our edge lies in our robust infrastructure and the seamless integration of quantitative models into fully automated trading systems. We move fast, think rigorously, and build to last. We are looking for high-performance individuals to become part of Qliq’s journey.
Who we are
Qliq is a well-capitalized, tech-driven systematic quantitative proprietary trading firm, operating as an internally funded hedge fund. We trade derivatives across multiple asset classes in the US markets, with the ambition to expand into other regions. Our office is centrally located in Amsterdam.
Our approach is deeply quant-driven, with a strong focus on systematic, fully automated trading in the mid-frequency space, explicitly not high-frequency or low-latency driven. Based on years of research and experience, we have developed robust signals that are integrated into our trading algorithms.
Qliq is well capitalized and does not rely on external funding, allowing us to operate with a long-term perspective and full strategic independence.
Our research scope is broad, and we remain open-minded to new ideas and initiatives from our team. With a scientific approach, guided by data and technology, and with an active embrace of AI across our research, systems, and day-to-day operations, Qliq navigates the markets.
What you’ll do
As MD, you are accountable for the operational excellence and strategic growth of Qliq. Your primary objective: create the right environment for highly skilled people to deliver top performance and build the most successful strategies.
This is a hands-on role. Qliq operates with a lean structure and does not have a large support organization. As such, you are personally responsible for a broad range of activities beyond trading, including operations; finance, legal/compliance, HR, facility and vendor management. You will oversee all these office support functions and are able to strengthen Qliq’s reputation via the website and LinkedIn to attract top Quant talent and build university relationships.
You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and taking ownership of work that, in larger organizations, would typically be delegated. This is not a role for someone who only manages from a distance; you lead by doing.
You are not directly involved in day-to-day trading. Instead, you focus on everything surrounding it: enabling, challenging, and supporting the trading team to perform at their best. You help traders sharpen existing strategies, drive the development of new ones, and ensure the right conditions are in place for sustained performance. You are a true team builder, able to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent.
You oversee daily operations, trading activities, system development, and infrastructure, while remaining close to the detail. You set and execute strategy with a focus on maintaining Qliq’s technological edge and scalability. You own the full financial function: reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
You are responsible for stakeholder management across the organization’s key relationships, including shareholders, the Supervisory Board, clearing partners, and exchanges. You are a strong and credible communicator, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You lead, coach, and recruit top talent, while recognizing that growth at Qliq is measured in absolute return, not headcount. You understand that adding people is a means to an end and manage accordingly.
You actively leverage AI, in research and development, in trading signal generation, and in how the team operates day to day. You stay close to the operation, know the details, and deliver.
This role is based full-time in our Amsterdam office. We work on-site and do not operate a remote or hybrid model. Working hours are aligned with the US markets: primarily 13:30–22:00 CET.
